Samsung Unveils Fusion NAND Flash Memory Chip
March 30, 2007
Samsung recently unveiled in Taipei a fusion NAND flash chip featuring the fast data reading and writing speeds of SLC (Single Level Cell) NAND and the cost benefit of MLC (Multi-Level Cell) NAND. The new fusion chip, named Flex-OneNAND, enables mobile applications makers to adjust between SLC and MLC, contingent on the features of their products. Flex-OneNAND is envisaged to substantially reduce the sizes and costs of mobile devices. Samsung plans to start production of 4Gb Flex-OneNAND in April 2007.
